Last chance for faculty, staff, hourly web photos Faculty, staff and hourly employees who need to have their photos taken for the new website and Roll Call should stop by the Communications Department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 13. If you are unsure whether or not you need to have your picture taken, please contact your Department Supervisor. These are required. All fall activities are now online, and many of the winter sports and activities are uploaded regularly. While your students are home, view and order their team, unit or dorm photos, sports action, candids, special events, and more at www.culver.mycapture.com. Archived photos from 2006-07 school year 2007 and summer camps are also available.
Student Life The Math Forum will be sponsoring the third in its series of math competitions, “2007 Ciphering Time Trials” at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 13, in room 212 of the science and math building. Box lunches will be provided. This contest consists of 10 rounds in which individuals are presented with three problems to be solved in three minutes. Each round will contain both easy and difficult problems and cover a variety of topics. Awards will be given to the highest-scoring students in each grade, 9-12, as well as to top schools as determined by the sum of the scores of their highest-scoring student in each grade, 9-12. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Counts (countsn@culver.org) The first ski club trip is Saturday, Dec. 15. Please contact Samuel Todd todds@culver.org to sign up. Cost will be about $70 to $80, billed to your account. We are going to Caberfae Peaks in Michigan. Please reserve a spot by noon today, Dec. 12. The Rugby team will have its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, in the mezzanine, complete with free Papa’s pizza. RSVP with Andrew Urban if you want to play this year, and/or will be attending the meeting. Don’t miss our choir and orchestra performance of the Vivaldi Gloria at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, in the Memorial Chapel. Caps for Cuties is collecting hats to donate over winter break. We really appreciate the hats we have already gotten, but we know there are unfinished caps out there. Even though there won’t be another knit-a-thon, please keep working and give your hats to Samantha Fremer (fremers@culver.org) or Aileen McCluskey (mcclusa@culver.org) before winter break. Both ATMs are operating and should no longer experience interruptions in service. If you experience difficulties with the machines, please contact Mrs. Newton (ext. 8292) or Mrs. Melton (ext. 8221). The 1st Source Bank representative will be on campus from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 13, and again Tuesday, Dec. 18. Beginning in January, the bank representative will be on campus Thursdays only. The time and location will remain the same. The Fusion Christmas Celebration is from 6 to 6:45 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 13, in the Heritage Room of the Legion Memorial Building. Join us for a brief gathering to celebrate the Christmas season and for an introduction to Fusion Youth Group. Christmas cookies and cocoa provided. Box dinners are available. Faculty/ Staff Tech Services will be re-offering a Basic Multimedia - Slideshows, Video, Editing, & DVDs – class, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The attendees at the last class really enjoyed it and interest has increased since Bob Hartman’s “Culver at the Flicks” presentation. We realize that this is after the students have left, but there aren’t any classes to conflict with this one. This session will be limited to the first 15 staff/faculty who signup by emailing Mark Sayer and Lew Kopp. The class will be held in the Technology Services training room in the Humanities building. The faculty/staff association will sponsor a free holiday movie matinee at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Uptown Cinema. Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium will be showing. Bring the kids for the show and free popcorn.
Athletics Good luck to the CMA varsity A hockey team at the Lawrence (Mass.) Academy Tournament and to the CGA varsity hockey team at the Cushing (Mass.) Academy Tournament. The teams fly out today. The CGA varsity basketball team defeated Argos 53 - 49 last night. Leading scorers for the game were Katie Barnes with 15 points and 8 assists, Kylee Shipley with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Kylie Hermanson with 10 points and seven rebounds. Angela Carlson, Kylie Trennepohl, Cassie Felton, Emily Loehmer all contributed to the victory. Next up for the Eagles is a showdown with John Glenn tomorrow, Dec. 13, in Fleet Gymnasium.
