Montgomery Lecture series continues this week

Reza Aslan, one of the nation’s most respected experts on Islam and the Middle East, will address an all-school assembly at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6. Aslan’s visit is sponsored by the Montgomery Lecture Series with funding also provided by the classes of 1962 and 1966. Click here for more information.

Two religious life services set for Wednesday

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday this week, featuring two services for Imposition of the Ashes. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Feb.6, and an interdenominational service will take place at 5 p.m. later that day. Both services will be held in the Memorial Chapel.

CGA basketball opens postseason Wednesday

The CGA varsity basketball team opens sectional tournament play at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, against Mishawaka Marian at New Prairie. With a win, the Eagles will have their most victories in a season since 1998.

Student Life

If any Episcopal students would like to be prepared for confirmation, please contact Mr. Haynes (haynest@culver.org). Bishop Little will confirm on campus the Friday of Parents Weekend in April, and classes are about to start.

Indiana Mathematics League (IML), round 4, will be held from 3:05 to 4 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 5, in Roberts Auditorium. All students who enjoy challenging mathematics interactions are invited to participate. Bring your calculator and a pencil and join the group.

Visit Kary Sommer at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) display table in the dining hall today, Feb. 4. Find out more at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the admissions conference room.

Athletics

The Culver Academies fencing team won three of six divisions at the Great Lakes Conference championships Saturday. The three champions were Gene Shmurak (men’s foil), Mary Saran (women’s saber), and Ana Warr (women’s epee). Marvin Hargraves took second in the men’s epee and Raffi Nersessian was third in the men’s foil. Mary Halpin was eighth in the women’s foil. The men’s foil team finished second in the team division.

The CMA junior varsity and varsity basketball games at North Miami have been rescheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21.
