Student Life

A movie trip to see “I Am Legend” at the IMAX THEATER in Portage (approx. 75 min. away) is from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27. Cost will be $10 for transportation (billed home) and $12.50 for a ticket into the show (cash). To sign up, email Mrs. A. Norton with the trip name, your name, your dorm/unit and your student ID number before noon tomorrow, Jan. 24.

No all-school meeting will be held today, Jan. 23. Instead, counselors and mentors will meet at 2 p.m., followed by mentee/mentor time at 2:30 p.m.

The Spanish Honorary Society will be offering 52 college scholarships (12 at $2000 and forty at $1000) to graduating senior members.  If you are a senior and member of the SHS, you are encouraged to apply. Completed applications must be post-marked no later than Feb.15.  For additional information, please see Prof. Garzón, president of the Spanish Honorary Society in the state of Indiana, at the Department of Modern and Classical Languages in Gignilliat Hall, room 103, after last class period.

The Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at dinner from 5:30 until 7 p.m. tonight, Jan. 23. Cookies are $3.50 a box and are as delicious as ever. Bring some money and buy lots of cookies to help you through the winter blues. Any questions, contact Caroline Curry.

A request from Campus Greenlife: Now that your classes are ending, you have the opportunity to throw away all of the papers you may or may not have wanted in the first place. Please recycle used paper in the paper bins placed around campus. Also, please try to lend or sell your books instead of just throwing them away. Finally, the paper towels used campus wide can be recycled in those “paper only” recycling bins. Please take advantage of the convenient bins placed in every dorm and barrack.

Crest ceremony and Martin Luther King Jr. Day ceremony photos are available for purchase in the MyCapture online picture gallery.

Faculty/ Staff

The CGA student life staff is looking for your feedback as it makes plans to consider girls for third rotation leadership positions. We invite you to tell us about the strength of servant leadership you observe among our girls during your interactions with them in the classroom, athletic field, or general arena. We welcome specific information as to who, in your eyes, is a strong leader and how she has demonstrated her leadership to you.  All feedback should be emailed to Lauran Allinson before Jan. 30. Thank you for your time and commitment to our girls.

Training on how to enter EPR’s into EE7 will take place all day tomorrow in the Huffington Library Presentation Room. Stop by during any free period you have.

“Best Kept Secret,” featuring an all faculty and staff jazz band, will perform from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at the Culver Coffee Co. Those interested in playing or singing along should please get in touch with George Middleton, Bill Hargraves, or Justin Ross.

The faculty/staff meeting scheduled for today, Jan. 23, has been canceled.
