Thanksgiving service for faculty/staff scheduled Please remember that a faculty/staff Thanksgiving service in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Bess and Dr. Davies will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, in the Memorial Chapel with a reception on the Huffington Library first floor to follow. Special library hours for break and this Sunday The Huffington Library Thanksgiving break hours are as follows: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 20 and 21; Closed on Thursday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 25; 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving Break. Please also note the change in library hours for Sunday, Nov. 18. The Huffington Library will be open from 3 to 9:30 p.m. Benson “Asteroid Dance” blasts off Saturday Do you want to fly like an asteroid? Come to this year’s Benson dance at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. It’s going to be out of this world. The first astronauts into space get glow sticks with their $1 entrance fee.
Student Life The choir and orchestra invite you to attend their concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, in the Memorial Chapel, where they will perform the Vivaldi Gloria. No rec. ride will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17. Three different viruses are infecting hard drives and external drives (i.e. Flash Drives, USB Drives, IPODS, Network Drives, etc.). We will be forced to shut down all internet access and/or network access until the virus is eradicated, unless all users take the steps below. If we do not get this virus under control, online gaming also will be blocked. Take the following steps immediately.
Congratulations class representatives. The following students have been elected to represent their dorm/unit as class representatives to student council for the 2007-08 school year: Peer-to-peer networking and file sharing of copyright materials without permission is against the law. Please take a moment and reflect on the Culver Academies Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), the Student Handbook and the following article in terms of peer-to-peer networking and file sharing. It is against the AUP to violate copyright and licensing laws. The Student Handbook has an entire chapter devoted to Student Network and Laptop Policies. As a reminder, “All users are expected to abide by the rules and guidelines in this policy statement, which is intended to ensure that individuals conduct themselves legally, responsibly, and ethically in their uses of Academy resources” and “Using Proxy-servers or http tunneling services to gain access to sties that are blocked by Culver’s network equipment” is prohibited. The Spring Break in Mission trips are filling up quickly, and if you are interested in going on one of these trips, you will need to place your deposit as soon as possible. The China and Greece trips are sold out, but there are about five seats on the Croatia trip, six to seven seats on the South Africa trip, about five spots on the Tyler, Texas, trip and several spots still open on the Mexico trip. Athletics The CGA varsity basketball team defeated Knox on the road Nov. 13, 53 – 48. Leading scorers for the game were Kylee Shipley with 19 points, Katie Barnes with 16 and Kylie Hermanson with 9. Angela Carlson, Emily Loehmer, Kiley Trennepohl, Anna Mahalak and Cassie Felton all contributed to the win. The Eagles are in action this Saturday night, Nov. 17, at LaVille with the JV game starting at 6 p.m. The CGA swimming and diving team hosts North Judson at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Nov. 15.
