Celebrate. Remember. Fight back. Relay For Life is not just a one night thing; the fight against cancer is a never-ending battle. With that, we’re inviting you to join the Culver Relay For Life in its kickoff event from 8 to 10 p.m. tonight, Nov. 30, in the Shack. Our hosts, Miss Ritt and Mr. Surovchak, will have game shows for you to play and win prizes, great music, and a lot of fun. Also, two amazing guest speakers who are cancer survivors will come to share their stories. Please feel free to stop in for a few minutes or stay all night long. If you have any questions or comments about the kickoff, or the relay in general, feel free to contact Ranti Ositelu at ositelo@culver.org.

The SAT roster and location sites for tomorrow, Dec. 1, are available here.

All remaining college recommendations are due on Monday, Dec. 3. All remaining college applications are due to college advisors by Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Culver Film Club will show the 1952 Japanese film “Ikiru,” directed by Akira Kurosawa, at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Nov. 30 in Roberts Auditorium. Anyone in the Culver community may attend and view the 143-minute, black-and-white film, but we ask that you be on time and remain throughout the showing.  Read on for more information on the film.
Blessed with timeless humanity, grace, and heartbreaking compassion, “Ikiru” is one of the most moving dramas in the history of film. Director Akira Kurosawa is best remembered for his samurai epics, but this film ranks among his greatest achievements. A melancholy civil servant learns that he has terminal cancer and realizes he has nothing to show for his dreary, unsatisfying life, which has been a meaningless quest for following petty company rules.  To no avail, he seeks solace in nightlife and family, until a simple inspiration leads him to a final, enduring act of public generosity, when he manages to create one thing of lasting worth.  Expressing his own thoughts about death and the universal desire for a meaningful existence, Kurosawa infuses this drama with social conscience and deep, personal conviction, arriving at a conclusion that is emotionally overwhelming and simply unforgettable.  (All blurbs from www.amazon.com or www.deepdiscountdvd.com )
