Hal Steinbrenner ’87, the younger of George Steinbrenner’s two sons, has been elected chairman of the board of Yankee Global Enterprises, the umbrella company for the New York Yankees and the YES Network. According to The New York Times, Hal Steinbrenner, 38, had recently taken a more active role in the day-to-day operations of the Yankees, supervising budget matters and overseeing the team management in Tampa, Fla. “Hal is very much involved,” Yankees Manager Joe Torre told The Times. “He certainly has taken a great deal of interest. He’s a very serious-minded person. Just the few times I’ve been in his company over the last four or five months, we could see the difference, that this was something he was really applying himself to.” CGA’s Celete Kato’s senior service project has been highlighted in an article on her family in the “Ann Arbor News.” Click here to read it. Just like you wouldn’t leave a pet in a car, you should not leave your laptop in one either. If you do, it can cause damage to the internal and external components. Even leaving it in the sun can cause damage. It doesn’t matter if you have it on standby, off, or shut down. The direct sunlight can cause damage to your screen. Humidity has a lot of moisture that gets into your laptops, which damages the internal components. You might not even know it’s happening until your computer crashes, so in order to avoid these issues, take care of your laptop and use common sense while traveling outside your room with it. This daily tidbit is brought to you by the Kelsie Ferguson of Court Dorm and the CGA Technology Prefects.
Faculty/ Staff All faculty not otherwise engaged in department meetings are invited to attend a workshop on multimedia and video editing from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Oct. 4, in the Presentation room, hosted by Major Tom Duckett. Bring your cheery smile, laptop, and any video projects with which you need assistance. Please let Tom and Max know in advance if you intend on coming.
