Student Life

The University of Dayton will visit at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, followed at 6:30 p.m. by Loyola of Chicago.

CAB will be hosting “That ’70s Dance” from 8 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, behind the science and math building. Wear your best ’70s civvies within the guidelines. Tie-dye has been approved for both CMA and CGA.

A recreation ride is at 10 a.m. every Saturday. Please sign up by emailing Ms. Relos.

Technology tip: Don’t use your computer on your bed, as it can overheat or fall off. Be careful with drinks and food around your laptop.

The Community Service Council is in the process of building our event calendar for the year and is accepting proposals.  We plan to schedule one or two events per month, and have room to incorporate new ideas.  Please send your event idea to Chris Miclot, Ashlyn Ayres or Mrs. Anne Kelley by October 31.  All event proposals should fit the mission of the council, which is to provide events where members of the campus community can actively serve others.  Our fundraising activities have already been planned, so proposals should not include ideas for those types of events.

No yoga or pilates classes will be held today, Oct. 4. Pilates intramural students should sign-in at the front desk and complete a fitness center workout. No pool lap swimming will be offered tomorrow, Oct. 5.

Join driver’s education classes at 3:45 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 7, at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, or again at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, in C building.

Your gift to the United Way of Marshall County is focused on community priorities like a safety net for people in crisis. It makes sure that temporary crises don’t become permanent.  Solutions center on accessing food, shelter, healthcare and legal council. Your gift matters.  Please give to the United Way of Marshall County.  Need help? Call 574-936-3366.  For more information on how you can support United Way of Marshall County, contact Diann Parsons, Culver Academies United Way Campaign Leader, at 842-8377.

We are once again eligible to participate in a free, secure, file shredding opportunity being conducted by the Marshall County Problem Waste and Recycling Center in Plymouth.  This ‘Shred Day’ event will take place on Wednesday, Nov 14, with a possible added day of Thursday the 15th.  If you have any sensitive or confidential documents that you would like to have shredded, as opposed to normal recyclable paper, please start purging your files and boxing your paper.  It is not necessary to go through and remove staples and paper clips, although it would be helpful to remove any of the heavy binder clips.  Please keep your paper boxes stored in your department, and we will coordinate a pick-up of your materials on the day we deliver them for shredding.  Your documents will be under constant control from the time of pick-up until the moment they are shred, so their confidentiality shall not be in question.  We will need to provide a rough box/volume count by the end of this month for scheduling purposes, so start collecting and watch for further information.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call John Kowalski at 8223, or email him at kowalsj@culver.org.
