Community Service Council needs adult help

The Community Service Council is looking for a faculty or staff member to help with its annual Trick-or-Treat Crossing Guard event on Halloween.  If you would be willing to drive a mini-bus shuttle from Logansport Gate to drop off points in town from 5 to 7 p.m., please contact Mrs. Anne Kelley.

Fan bus to CMA state tennis match available

A fan bus to the CMA tennis state final four match at North Central High School in Indianapolis leaves at 7:30 a.m. and returns at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.Your student billing account that is mailed home will be charged accordingly. To sign up, email clemenr@culver.org with your dorm/unit and student ID number by 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 11.

Student Life

A movie trip to Showland Cinema in Plymouth runs from 6 to 11 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 12. Movies available will be: “The Seeker: The Dark is Rising” and “The Game Plan.” Cost will be $5 billed home for transportation and $7 cash for a ticket into the show. To sign up, email Mrs. A. Norton before noon tomorrow, Oct. 11, with the trip name, your dorm/unit and your student ID number.

CGA would like to start a rugby team. In order to do this we first must get a sponsor/advisor. If any staff members are interested, please email Victoria Weitgenant or Brittney Braun. We also need a list of prospective players. If anyone is interested in joining the team, please email one of us as well.

Technology Tidbit: Using the shortcut Alt + tab, you can navigate through any of your open program applications without using the mouse. Just hold the keys the down and press tab to move from one program to the next.

Ohio Northern University will visit campus at 11:20 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 11, followed at 11:40 a.m. by Hanover College and at 1:20 p.m. by Earlham College.

Apply for HOBY 2008 today. You heard about the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference at the CGA meeting last Wednesday. Now, it’s time for you to act. If you are a CGA sophomore who is interested in a life-changing leadership experience, we highly encourage you to apply. Any interested girl is to write an essay about what leadership means to her. These can be no longer than one page in at least 10 point Times New Roman, and should be emailed to Dean Weaser (weaserl@culver.org) by Friday, Oct. 19, for judging. Please consider joining thousands of students from across the nation in one of the most prestigious leadership events in the country. You won’t regret it. Faculty/ Staff

The faculty/staff meeting today, Oct. 10, has been canceled.

The CGA student life staff is looking for your feedback as it makes plans to consider girls for second rotation leadership positions.  We invite you to tell us about the strength of servant leadership you observe among our girls during your interactions with them in the classroom, athletic field, or general arena.  We welcome specific information as to who, in your eyes, is a strong leader and how she has demonstrated her leadership to you.  All feedback should be emailed to Lauran Allinson before Oct. 16.  Thank you for your time and commitment to our girls.

Faculty and staff:  The Academic Affairs Office is looking for 30 adults to proctor the PSAT on Wednesday, Oct. 17.  This position does pay a stipend.  If you are interested, please email Vicky Russell as soon as possible.

The CMA varsity football team will open sectional play on Oct. 19 at Peru. An Eagle victory would advance them to the second round, where they would face either Tippecanoe Valley or South Bend St. Joseph's. Maconaquah, Mishawaka Marian, John Glenn and Northwood are the other teams in the sectional.
