Dear Culver Community,

We hope you will find our Newsletter to be a useful source of information.  The links in this issue will connect you to information & news regarding the recent spinach scare, introduce you to some of our newer personnel, including Chef Marsha, and direct you to credible sources of nutrition information.  With the Bookstore now being operated by the Lay Dining Center, you will find a Bookstore link.  Some Bookstore items have been marked down, so you'll want to be sure and stop by and check these out.  A Snack Bar link will inform you of some exciting new menu selections being carried in our Snack Bar.

One of the most exciting developments at the Dining Hall will be the upcoming change in the look of the food labels.  By the time students return to school after the winter break, labels will resemble the 2005 updated Food Pyramid!  Our newsletter offers several links where you can explore and learn all about the new USDA food pyramid, as well as what Culver's new labels will look like and how to interpret them.

I am regularly asked why we do not serve soft drinks in the dining hall.  At a link you will find here, you will find out that there are many reasons!  We believe it is in the best interest of our students to do what we can to keep their soft drink intake to a minimum.  Perhaps they will thank us later!!

Enjoy clicking through the news, photographs, and information we have provided.  As always, there is a link for Feedback, and we always appreciate your comments and are happy to try to answer your questions.

Sincerely,

H. Lee Willhite, Jr.
Food Service/Bookstore Director
